NCA's Indoor pools and
outdoor pools...
We swim in the rain, it is only miserable for
the coaches!!
The conditions that close outdoor
pools (and totally out of our control) are:
Lightening/thunder: Protocal, wait
20 min. If no lightening/thunder occurs we can get back in
the water. If there is lightening/thunder we wait another 20
min. Sometimes we will call workout after a few rounds of
this or heavy lightening/thunder.
Power outages at the pool:
The filtration system is off and we are no allowed to swim when the
system is down.
Visibility for the
coaches/lifeguards: If we are unable to see the
swimmers, we are not allowed to continue practicing.
Now with that being said, any one
of these conditions can happen at any time. We cannot control
this. You may want to call the facility and make sure they
are open if you are driving from far away. Again, if it
happens after your phone call we have no control over that.
Those of you who live the
farthest are usually called first on our phone tree if there is a
closure. Many times, the closure happens after the point of
no return or phone calls.
Indoor pools will remain open in
the rain, lightening etc. Other issues such as water clarity,
pump issues etc will close a pool.
AND finally....the only reason
usually in the summer that our pools close..... YOU ALL KNOW THAT
ONE!
:)
The weather will affect the
temperature of our outdoor pools. If we have high winds, the
pool staff will not cover the pools. You may experience a few
days of colder water due to this.
Be nice to your coach who is
standing in the rain!!! :)
Stay dry, be safe on the roads
and look at it this way...if you are a swimmer you are wet
anyway!!!
