This past weekend in Mission Viejo, the Senior team had a pretty special meet.  Tanya Krisman’s (Sr) and Jessie Schmitt’s (Jr) performances ranked them in the top 50 swimmers in the world in their respective events.  Tanya is 13th in the 200 m butterfly and Jessie is 22nd in the 200 m breastroke.  NCA has never had two athletes ranked in the top 50 at the same time!!!  Congratulations ladies!  Nationally, Tanya is 2nd in the 200 m fly and Jessie is 5th in the 200 m breastroke.  Way to go ladies and congratulations to all the Seniors who competed in Mission this past weekend!!!

Remember that we don’t publish names or email addresses on the volunteer sign up sheets in order to protect your privacy, so after you sign up you won’t be able to see your name up there. However, the system will send you a confirmation email detailing your date and time slot.

Sometimes spam filters eat up our confirmation emails, so if you don’t get one let me know and I’ll check and see if you got the position you wanted.

All swimmers in AG1,2, High School Prep,  SD and Seniors who are 12 years of age or older have the opportunity of signing up for the 5,000 for time.  This event will be held on 5-10-08, the same day as the swimathon.  Please download the flyer for more information!!!

Pictures needed for the 2008 slide show that Janet Exley puts together. Each year has been GREAT. Please give any pictures that you have to your coach in a plastic bag labeled with your name and workout site on the back. They will be returned to you. Better yet, you can e mail them to me or Janet!! This all has to be done by the end of April as this is a HUGE project!!!  Here is Janet’s email address. They can also be put on a CD. We would appreciate swimming pictures and group shots are very much appreciated!!! Thanks for your help!!

Eric placed 10th in the Canadian Olympic Trial during prelims. I will update you with the finals results when I receive them. Finals were the 6th of April. Eric had a 6 sec time drop. Way to go Eric!!!

If you are new to the team, you may purchase a 2008 seasonal registration card. These cards are valid April 1st through the 2nd week in September. The 2009 cards will available in Sept. This is a less expensive way to go, rather than purchasing a 2008 annual card right now. Please click here to download a copy of the application. You will need to verify with the swim office (address on the application) your swimmer’s age by showing an original passport or birth certificate. You may either do this in person at the office (call 619-275-1292 for hours) or you can do it through the mail. You will need to enclose a self addressed, stamped envelope for them to return the document in. Questions, please ask your coach. You will need this card within 2 weeks of beginning the program. It gets mailed to us and we keep a copy and send you a copy. Our team name is North Coast Aquatics and our club code is NCA. Please mail the application, check and all supporting document in on your own or handle it in person. Do not give any of these documents to your site coach. Thank you!

Congratulations to Anna Pold. Anna has officially been accepted to represent the Estonian Olympic Team in Bejing this August. She made her USA Olympic Trial cut and with her dual citizenship has been asked to represent Estonia in the “08 Olympics. We will all be watching the opening ceremonies anxiously awaiting the Estonian athletes!!! Way to go Anna, we are all very happy for you!!! HELP….we need NCA officials, especially at the B/C level!!!!! This weekend at the ABC FAST meet we had 0 officials who had swimmers at the meet. One of our Saturday officials drove from the Clairmont area in San Diego, he has a senior swimmer. We didn’t have anyone Sat afternoon or Sunday for both sessions. WE NEED PARENTS to start the process of getting certified. Teams get fined $100.00 per session that you do not have officials. I begged on Sunday and got another official at the meet from FAST to sign on for us, but we could be fined $200.00. I haven’t begged in probably a year, but now I am begging again. We will either have to increase the NCA surcharge to accommodate the fine, or get more volunteers. If you officiate for a session, you get credit off your membership fee for NCA. Depending on how many swimmers are at the meet, we divide the surcharge between all the NCA officials. You are responsible for e mailing Jeff Pease what meets you work in a quarter and he will credit you on your membership. You only need to work at meets that your children are swimming at or if you want to work extra, you can. If I don’t have enough officials, I put out an e mail and if you want, you can work extra meets.

If you are interested in lowering your dues and helping out the team and NEVER timing again….please go to si-swimming.com go to SI Swimming at the top of the page and click on officials. Please e mail me that you are interested and I will let you know when the next training session will be. You need to attend 1 meeting at the SI swim office in San Diego (or if we have enough, we can probably get a clinic up this way).
The next step is shadowing an experienced official on the pool deck of your child’s swim meet for at least 3 sessions, take an online test and when you are confident enough…be on deck for us….We will be forever grateful!!!

Please consider this for the team. We are desperate for more officials. NCA will pay for your certification.
